I photography most things, but I love people most - I studied sculpture at art school in France which probably explains why. The most important thing is to have fun with people and for them to enjoy being photographed. I think it changes their image, their look and that's when you see them at their most natural. There is a lot of spontaneity in my pictures, because I see that as the real challenge - to make something fabulous happen at the last minute, so most pictures area a response to the person and the situaton. I also like the quantity on a shoot, partly the rhuthm of taking many pictures, but mainly because I think you are creating something with someone and each shot is a step on the way to the finished piece. I have been painting and printmaking for over thirty years using many different media, and studied Art and Design at Norwich City College. I am currently concentrating on highly colourful mixed media collages. These are made with original monoprints (produced in batches), as well as other printed material such as newspapers and magazines, and sometimes textile fragments. The materials are cut or torn to form a semi abstract mage which is mounted on board, canvas or paper, which sometimes has an acrylic underpainting.\nThe composition is not defined at the beginning but arises organically as I work with the materials. It may start with a vague idea, a piece of collage paper or fabric. I am inspired by colour which is why I make many collages of flowers.\nI am also inspired by the landscape in hot Mediterranean countries as it tends to be more colourful than the UK and memories of views from shuttered windows, terraces and balconies onto hot landscapes are always particular favourite subjects. \n A night in a 19th century Preacher's Waggon and a ride on a vintage tractor. <\/td>\n \n <\/td>\n \n \u00a380 <\/td>\n \n Donated by a Trustee of designermakersCIO : Over a century old this restored Preacher's Waggon sleeps two. It has a double bed and wood burning stove. These vehicles were made for summer evangelical missions travelling from village to village to spread the word of God and to win converts to their non-conformist religious denomination. The Preacher\u2019s waggon may have originally carried large painted religious tracts on its side to spread the gospel. The minister would have preached from the front of the waggon and there is evidence that a harmonium was used to accompany singing. The Preacher would have slept inside (as you will) while the story goes that his servant had to sleep beneath. A Shower and compost toilet are available nearby. Fired to 1000c and sprinkled with sawdust while still cooling to create darkened areas. The shape this pot was based on is the Greek Kylix - a drinking cup from the 3rd to 5th Century BCE. The decoration is based on Minoan pottery from a thousand years earlier. I like the idea that two different cultures and periods of history can come together. The imagery aoorioriates a pair of cats from this 'azulejo' (glazed ceramic tile); their gaze captivating, their expressions slightly dark and menacing.
